Classes
We offer classes for residents and non residents. Please contact us for more information on class sessions or if you are interested in teaching a class at Amherst House. We are currently offering the following classes:
Wee Friends - These Parent and Child classes are taught by Judy Milke and are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for children ages 14 months to 4 years.
Elsie M. Brown School of the Arts - Shayla-Brown teaches six classes for 2 year olds to adults. The following classes are offered at various times during the week: Ballet, Hip Hop, Modern, Jazz, Mommy & Me, and Dance Aerobics.
Hatha Yoga - Sarah Schwartz teaches both a Beginners Class and Continuing Class on Wednesday evenings.
Pilates - Leigh Roberts, a Physical Therapist and Polestar Certified Pilates Instructor, teaches two levels of Pilates classes on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings. She also offers a Pilates class for People with MS, Parkinson’s and Stroke Survivors on Friday afternoons.
Sewing Classes - Ireatha Day Woods teaches basic sewing on Thursday evenings. Sewing machines provided for class.

Both seminars are presented by Master Gardeners from the Howard County Cooperative Extension Service. Call (410) 381 9600 to register your attendance to this free event.
Village Elections - April 23 5:00-7:00 pm and April 24, 9:00 am-1:00 pm
All Kings Contrivance Village residents (living on assessment paying property) 18 years or older can vote. This year’s elections will fill 3 two year term board seats and 1 one year term board seat. Please vote—we have a quorum we must meet. Kids will be voting on which animal we will adopt from the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore!
Flea Market - April 24, 9:00 am-noon
The Flea Market will take place in the Amherst House parking lot. Sign up for a space today. One space is $10, two are $15. Priority given to KC residents. Non-residents will be put on a waiting list for any available spaces beginning April 21. Advertising will be placed in area newspapers for this event.
As part of the Flea Market we will also be holding a book swap. Get ready for summer reading. Bring a book, take a book or drop off your books in advance at Amherst House between April 17 and 23. (Max. 10 books accepted, No magazines.)
VIN Etching and "Watch Your Car" - April 24, 9:00 am-1:00 pm
The Maryland Anti-Car Theft Committee will be sponsoring a free VIN etching and registration in the Watch Your Car Program which has proven to be a highly effective deterrent to car theft. This anti-theft program registers your cars and places decals on your vehicle which allow police to stop your car between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. without observing a violation. Event will take place in front of Amherst House.
Senior Luncheon - Date: TBA
Free Lunch and entertainment for K.C. seniors. Registration required
Annual Pool Party - Thursday, August 12 6:30-9:00 pm
Free food, games, and music for all the family at the Dickinson pool. Free tickets available at Amherst House-limited number
End of Summer Sundae Making - Date: TBA 7:00 to 8:00 pm
All you can eat sundaes at Amherst House for just $2 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Neighborhood Yard Sales - Saturdays in September and October for Macgill’s Common, Dickinson, Huntington/Huntington East Yard sales will take place in neighborhood yards. KCCA will advertise streets that register in the local press.
