Welcome Letter from Kings Contrivance Village Manager

Dear New Resident:

Welcome to the village of Kings Contrivance! Whether you have lived in Columbia before or are new to the area, we would like to make your recent move more comfortable by helping you become acquainted with your village, town, and county.

Please come in, introduce yourself, and pick up your complementary packet of information and a Columbia map. Amherst House is your community center where many activities take place, such as exercise classes. Throughout the year we sponsor several workshops, seminars and special events including a Halloween party, Santa events, an annual pool party, village flea markets, community clean-up weekends, gardening seminars and family bingo nights.

Our village office at Amherst House, is located conveniently at the village center (known elsewhere as a shopping center) at the intersection of Guilford Road and Eden Brook Drive. We are open from 9am to 9pm Monday - Thursday, 9am to 5pm on Friday, and 10am to 1pm on Saturday.

Visit our website for class information, covenant information & forms, a calendar of events and facility rental and other information. Our Facebook page and Crown Prints newsletter have information about village meetings and upcoming events. Look for our purple newsletter delivered in the free Columbia Flier on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month.

Amherst House is also available for rental for parties, business meetings and seminars. We can seat up to 100 people so keep us in mind when you are planning your next party or business function. Call or stop by and we'll be happy to give you a tour. View photos of our decorated rooms on our Facebook page.

As you may already know, Columbia is a unique and special place to live and was created, "By building an image of the possible..." according to founder James Rouse. Rouse believed that the best city would meet the needs of the people and cultivate better residents. Keeping in line with Rouse's vision, the Kings Contrivance Community Association is here for you. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call, email or stop by our office. We look forward to meeting you.

Welcome home,

Beverley Meyers
Village Manager
